Women who kill their batterers because they have tried every other means of escape (to no avail) frequently are given stiff prison sentences. The system that does not protect women’s rights to freedom from abuse zealously protects their abusers from the victims’ acts of self-defense.

It reminds me of that famous Margaret Atwood quote: “Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.” It also reminds me of something written by one of the mods of Sex Worker Problems: “Misandry irritates. Misogyny kills.”
